We have recently had a few conversations with potential clients and the question has arisen 'Are you CQC registered'. When discussing this further, they have said that they have been told by other providers that in order to provide medics into a film production, the company needs to be CQC registered.
This in simple terms is not the case. In reference to whether or not a company needs to be registered, the CQC refers to 'The Health and Social Care Act(Regulated Activites) Regulations 2014' (UK Statutory Instruments 2014 No 2936, Schedule 1 Regulated Activitied defines the activities which fall under the scope of registration.
The nature of work which Film TV and Event medical companies undertake is out of the scope of registration.
However, where we provide an ambulance through an industry partner, we WILL ensure that this company is CQC registered and is fully compliant with the industry requirements.
It is disappointing that companies within our industry are providing misleading or inaccurate information (perhaps based on their misunderstanding of the regulations).
We act in accordance with the underlying requirements and clinical guidelines as determined by the Joint Royal Colleges Ambulance Liason Committee, in line with the skills peformance indicator as set out by the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care and are currently developing a set of Patient Group Directions.
Patient group directions (PGDs) are written instructions to help you supply or administer medicines to patients, usually in planned circumstances.
